Scholarship Program

We support the education of female Christian students with financial need at nearly 200 colleges, universities and schools in nine Southeastern states.

Mrs. Whitehead was an ardent supporter of education, serving as Emory University’s first and only woman trustee from 1944 to 1953. She also served as a trustee of Agnes Scott College, received an honorary degree from Berry College, and named eight educational institutions among 14 beneficiary organizations in her will.

Education is the Foundation’s top priority, and we devote most of our resources to the scholarship program (see chart). We award annual grants to the following institutions to provide need-based scholarships for Christian women who live in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Most grants support undergraduate higher education, though we maintain an interest in health education including nursing, medicine and allied health. More than 12,000 students receive scholarships each year.

Mrs. Whitehead’s Life & Legacy

Mrs. Whitehead’s life and legacy inspire many students like Trinity Hutchins, who received scholarship funding to attend Berry College.

Taking the Leap

Scholarship support helped Whitney Palmer overcome incredible odds to earn her doctorate in higher education from Clark Atlanta University.
