Senior Care

We support the care of senior women at 15 facilities in Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.

When Mrs. Whitehead lost her father at the age of 13, she and her mother moved to a family farm where her half-sisters, aunts and cousins helped to raise her even while struggling to support themselves. Growing up in their care shaped Mrs. Whitehead’s generosity and sympathy for senior women of limited means. She bequeathed her home’s treasured antiques, art and furnishings to the residents of Westminster Canterbury Richmond. Her younger son Conkey followed her example in establishing the Foundation with “the greatest sympathy for senior women … who have met with adversity.”

Senior care remains a small but significant part of our average grants portfolio (see chart). We award annual grants to the following facilities to provide need-based financial assistance for senior Christian women.

We do not make grants to individuals. If you are seeking aid for senior care, please contact your institution. We rarely add new institutions to our grants program. For more information, contact Carrie Conway or Emily Patteson.
